Now, some of you would have heard of the adage that says, “A problem shared is a problem halved,” which was the result of a study that showed that when people share their worries with others, it can improve their condition. 1 However, let me jokingly add that it depends on whom you share your worries with (smile). I believe this was what Apostles James was trying to get at when after teaching the church about working faith, trials, and suffering, he then signed off with prayer.

These social issues we struggle with are not peculiar to our times because Jesus experienced them in the first century Mediterranean society. But how did Jesus respond, and how might he help us today?
